Tyler Martin

Bethesda SC Head Coach, BSC Summer Camp Director

Coach Tyler is in his second full season as a BSC head coach after joining the club at the start of the 2019-2020 season. Tyler has been with Bethesda since he was seven years old. His understanding of the club’s goals and expectations is high. He has spent many summers with the club working at camps and will continue for summers to come. Tyler graduated from Catholic University in the spring of 2019, receiving a Bachelors’s Degree in Elementary Education. He currently holds a USSF National ‘D’ Coaches License.

As previously mentioned Tyler is an alumnus of the Bethesda Soccer Club. After his youth career, Tyler went on to play four years at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and then four years at Catholic University of America. At BCC, he received honorary mentions from The Gazette and helped the team to multiple competitive seasons. On both teams, Tyler was named to leadership roles and helped the younger players become more accustomed to the team.

Damar Bess

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Damar: Coach Bess joined BSC in the winter of 2018 and has primarily worked within the Youth Development Program and with our Soccer Juniors Clinic. He currently holds a USSF National ‘D’ Coaches License and is currently working on his ‘C’ License for USSF and UEFA.

Coach Bess is also on the path of working to become a professional first-team coach with ambitions of coaching in the Champions League

Daniel Louisignau

Head Coach,  BU17 Blue 04

About Daniel: Coach Louisignau joins the BSC Coaching Staff for the 2019-2020 season after working as a coach for multiple sides throughout the DMV. He is currently an assistant coach at American University and currently holds a National ‘D’ License.

Prior to American University, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Appalachian State University and four seasons in a similar capacity at University of Maryland Baltimore County. In 2014 after UMBC made it to the College Cup for the first time in school history he and the rest of the Retrievers staff were named the America East Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

As a student-athlete himself, Louisignau played at UMBC (2009-11). During his time at UMBC, the Retrievers posted a winning percentage of .731 and an overall record of 41-11-15 for the most wins during a three-year period in UMBC Men’s Soccer history. In 2011, Louisignau was named the America East Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and earned 1st Team All-Conference honors after leading the conference in saves, save percentage and shutouts.

A Wilmington, Delaware native, Louisignau graduated from UMBC in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. While living in Delaware, he played club soccer for the Baltimore Bays, where he won the USYSA National Championship in 2006 and 2009 and won the US Soccer Developmental Academy in 2008. Louisignau was also invited to train with the U18 U.S. National Team in 2007.

Kevin Layton

ECNL Girls Director U15-U19

About Kevin: Coach Layton joined the BSC program for 2019-2020 after over a decade of coaching youth and collegiate soccer in the region. He will be coaching Bethesda’s U12 and U15 ECNL sides during the fall.

Prior to joining Bethesda, Kevin served as the Head Coach of the MRM Coyotes, which won over 20 top-flight championships including the Bethesda Premier Cup and had 19 players go on to play NCAA Division I soccer. He would later go on to serve as the Director of the Girls Youth Academy at MRM, working with players ages 8-13. He has also served as the Girls Varsity Assistant Coach at Good Counsel High School where his side won six Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) championships. At the collegiate level, Kevin has previously worked as a Volunteer Assistant Head Coach and Interim Head Coach at George Washington University.

In addition to his work as a coach he is also the owner of MEGA Soccer, a soccer training company based out of the Montgomery County area. Before starting his coaching career Kevin played college soccer at Towson University and was a member of the Northern Virginia Royals PDL team in 2003 and 2004.

He currently holds  UEFA B License, USSF B License, NSCAA Premier Diploma, USSF Youth license, WFA Periodization Diploma, La Liga level 1 and level 2 Formation Methodology Courses, KNVB International Course. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.

Mustapha Minteh

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Mustapha: Coach Minteh has over 20 years of diverse coaching experience at the High School, Select, and Classic levels. He has worked with Peter Bonde who is the former Technical Director for the Danish Football Association, is a member of UEFA’s Technical instructor’s panel, and was an assistant coach at the 2002 World Cup. Minteh’s coaching strength is the ability to guide each player to get better by focusing on technique, tactic, physiological, and physical aspects of the game.

His coaching experience in girl’s soccer includes finishing as a Maryland State Cup Semi-Finalist in 2011, President Cup Regional Semi-Finalist in 2010, the Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournament Champions in 2010, the Discovery Soccer League Indoor Champions 2009 among many other accolades.

As a player, Mustapha was capped for the Gambian National Team and served as their captain for multiple appearances.

Mustapha currently holds a state ‘D’ license, a USSF ‘C’ License, and an NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma. He is also a member of the NSCAA.

Tony Pykosh

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Tony: Coach Pykosh has been a part of the BSC family for over a decade and currently coaches in the EDP Program at the U13 level.

Coach Pykosh came to BSC after three years at FC Frederick. He has also has extensive experience coaching High School soccer in the area, coaching at Whitman, Sherwood and Holy Cross. In 2004, he led Whitman to a 4A State Championship and was named the Washington Post’s All-Met Coach of the Year and the All-County Coach of the Year by the Gazzette and The Washington Examiner. After he left Whitman, Tony went on to serve in a co-coaching capacity at Sherwood for their Boys Varsity Team. While in the position he would win the 2005 State Championship.

As a player, he featured prominently for Sherwood High School where he would help the side win a State Championship. For his efforts, he was also named an All-Met Honorable Mention. He would go on to play at the collegiate level for the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

Tony currently holds a USSF National ‘C’ Coaches License. He has two Bachelor’s Degrees from UMBC: a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sports Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. In addition to being a coach he is a Teacher in the Montgomery County Public Schools System and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Dave Greene

Girls U12-U14 Age Group Director

About Dave: Coach Greene has extensive coaching experience at multiple different levels of soccer. He has been with the Bethesda program since 1988 and currently coaches Bethesda’s ECNL U13 and U14 sides. Furthermore as the head coach of Whitman High School’s Boy’s Soccer Team which recently won the 2018 and 2019 Maryland 4A State Championship. For his efforts, Dave was named the 2019 United Soccer Coaches National Coach of the Year for Large Schools.

As a player, he was a three-year starter at Wheaton High School and would go on to play college soccer at Frostburg State University.

Dave currently holds a USSF National ‘B’ Coaches License. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Frostburg.

Nancy Rohrman

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Nancy: Coach Rohrman has an outstanding coaching resume and playing career that spans over 20 years. Nancy has been a part of numerous State and Regional Championships at the club level, while developing and  producing players who have gone on to represent State and Regional ODP Teams, as well as US Youth National Teams and the US Women’s National Team.

Nancy has been an instrumental part of Bethesda’s success through the years. As a member of the coaching staff of the Fury she helped the side to eight straight State Championships, three Regional Championships, and the 2000 USYS National Championship.

As a player, Nancy competed at the University of Hartford, where she was named All-Conference, All-Region, NCAA All-Tournament, and Conference Player of the Year, while guiding the Hawks to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Final Four her senior season.  Upon graduation, Nancy was selected to be a member of the United States Women’s National Team that participated in and won the gold medal at the 1993 World University Games. She was a member of the US Women’s National Team for two  years, and competed in four US Olympic Festivals, winning one gold medal.

At the club level, Nancy featured for SA United from Virginia which won three consecutive National Amateur Championships. She was also a member of the Maryland Pride of the United States Women’s Interregional Soccer League and was a key figure in their National Championship run in their inaugural season (1996). In 2008,she played with MYSC in the WPSL and was named Conference Player of the Year, after guiding them to the playoffs in their first year in the league.

Nancy currently holds a USSF National ‘B’ Coaches License and is a member of the Ohio North Soccer Association Hall of Fame and the University of Hartford Hall of Fame.

Hector Morales Jr.

Head Coach, GU14 Blaze 06 and GU16 EDP 04 (2019-2020 Season); GU15 Blue 06 and GU17 Blue 04 (2020-2021 Season)

About Hector: Coach Morales has been with the BSC program since 2013 and currently coaches the Girls U14 Blaze 04 and Girls Rampage 04 teams.

He began his playing career at Sherwood High School where he was selected to the MD All State team in his senior year. He continued his playing career as a Division I soccer player at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. Mr. Morales’ coaching career started at Sherwood HS as an assistant and he eventually became the head coach in 2001. Mr. Morales led the Warriors to consecutive state titles in 2004 and 2005. He is currently the head coach of the Boys Varsity team at Walter Johnson High School where he won the State title in 2016.

Coach Morales holds NSCAA National and Advanced National diplomas as well as a Goalkeeping Diploma and a USSF National ‘D’ Coaches License. In addition to his coaching duties, he serves as the Treasurer and Montgomery County Representative for the All-State First Team Committee for the Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer (MACS) and MCPS District II Representative. He has a Masters Degree in Education from George Washington University.

Ashly Kennedy

Head Coach, GU18 ECNL First Team 02

About Ashly: Coach Kennedy has been with the BSC program since 2015 after having previously played with the club from 1999-2003. She is currently coaches the Girls U16 ECNL Fury 03 and the Girls U17 ECNL Threat 02 teams.

Her coaching career started as a volunteer assistant at Loyola University in 2007. When she returned from Ottawa, Kennedy was hired as the first assistant at George Mason University. She was the recruiting coordinator for the Patriots and was responsible for all team travel/management and organization responsibilities. In 2009, Kennedy received the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Assistant Coach of the Year Award for finishing the season with a 14-4-2 record. She was an assistant at George Mason University for five years from 2008-2013. While coaching in college, Kennedy was also actively involved in club soccer working with top clubs in the DC Metropolitan area such as FCV, Loudoun, and Maryland United. She coached many girls age groups with Maryland United ECNL teams from 2007-2014.

In addition to her experience with BSC, Ashly is also the head girl’s soccer coach at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Maryland. She has been the head coach for the Cavaliers since 2013 and took the Cavs to the “IAAM” conference finals her first year against top school McDonogh High School. She was up for the NSCAA Coach of the Year Award in 2013 after posting a 13-2-2 record.

As a player, Ashly is an alumni of Bethesda and would play college soccer at the University of Maryland. While at Maryland she was an NSCAA Freshman All-American and received ACC All-Conference honors each of her four years.. She was a two year team captain and played and started in all 56 games in her career. Kennedy went on to play semi-professionally in Canada with the Ottawa Fury receiving the USL All-Conference Team award as well as Most Valuable Player. She was called in the WPS combine to play professionally.

Ashly currently holds a USSF National ‘C’ Coaches License and has an NSCAA Advanced Diploma and an NSCAA National Advanced Diploma. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Family Science from the University of Maryland.
