About Damar: Coach Bess joined BSC in the winter of 2018 and has primarily worked within the Youth Development Program and with our Soccer Juniors Clinic. He currently holds a USSF National ‘D’ Coaches License and is currently working on his ‘C’ License for USSF and UEFA.

Coach Bess is also on the path of working to become a professional first-team coach with ambitions of coaching in the Champions League

Mustapha Minteh

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Mustapha: Coach Minteh has over 20 years of diverse coaching experience at the High School, Select, and Classic levels. He has worked with Peter Bonde who is the former Technical Director for the Danish Football Association, is a member of UEFA’s Technical instructor’s panel, and was an assistant coach at the 2002 World Cup. Minteh’s coaching strength is the ability to guide each player to get better by focusing on technique, tactic, physiological, and physical aspects of the game.

His coaching experience in girl’s soccer includes finishing as a Maryland State Cup Semi-Finalist in 2011, President Cup Regional Semi-Finalist in 2010, the Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournament Champions in 2010, the Discovery Soccer League Indoor Champions 2009 among many other accolades.

As a player, Mustapha was capped for the Gambian National Team and served as their captain for multiple appearances.

Mustapha currently holds a state ‘D’ license, a USSF ‘C’ License, and an NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma. He is also a member of the NSCAA.

Dave Ungrady

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Dave: Coach Ungrady joins the Bethesda Soccer program after an extensive career both on the sidelines and in the press box as a coach, player, and journalist. He currently holds a USSF National ‘D’ Coaches License and has previously coached at Loudoun Soccer, D.C. Stoddert Academy, and St. Stephens/St. Agnes High School.

In addition to his work as a coach, Dave has worked for more than 30 years as a career journalist. His work has appeared in the Washington Post, the New York Times, and USA Today, and on ESPN, CNN, NBC, and Voice of America. In 1997, he served as the play-by-play commentator for D.C. United. He is the author of four books on sports and is the founder of the Born Ready Project, which teaches life skills to teenagers and young adults. He is a school teacher in the Loudoun County Public School system.

Dave is a graduate of the University of Maryland-College Park, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and was a member of their soccer and track and field teams. After his collegiate career ended, he played professionally for the North Virginia Royals in the United Soccer Leagues D3 Pro League.  Dave is also a member of the Notre Dame High School (Trenton, N.J.) Athletics Hall of Fame.

Michael Akinkoye

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Michael: Coach Akinkoye returns to the BSC program as a Head Coach after an extensive playing career in college and at the professional level.

As a player, Michael grew up in the Bethesda program and was a member of the Rangers side that went undefeated and won the US Youth Soccer Regional Championship in 2012-2013. He would go on to play college soccer at James Madison University and at Saint Joseph’s University, where he was named to the Philadelphia Soccer Six All-Rookie Team in 2015. As a student-athlete in 2015, he was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and given the Dorie Leahy Award for the loyalty and dedication that he showed to his team. He was also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

After college Michael would go on to professionally for Evergreen FC in the Premier Development League and Christos FC, for who he currently plays. He has played for Potomac’s U-23 CCL team and was invited to train with MFM FC  in the Nigerian Premier League.

As a coach he has previously worked as an Assistant Coach at Shenandoah Valley United and as a Soccer Camp Counselor at the Bullis School. He has also worked at summer camps for both SMU and JMU.

Joshua Kinnetz

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Josh: Coach Kinnetz joined the BSC program in 2018 after a highly successful career in coaching at the high school level through the region. He started his coaching career as the Head Coach of the Watkins Mill Junior Varsity Girls High School team, a position he held from 2004-2005. In 2006 he was promoted to be the head coach of their varsity team, a position that he would hold until 2010. In 2011, he moved on to become the Head Coach of the Girls Soccer team at Northwest High School. In 2014, he would guide Northwest to their first-ever division title and appearance in the regional finals. In 2015, he made a consecutive regional final appearance.

In 2016 he would guide The Jaguars to their second division title and first-ever undefeated season. For his efforts, Josh was nominated for the MACS Coach of the Year. After a successful spell with Northwest Josh was named the Head Coach of Walter Johnson High School’s Girls Varsity Team in 2017, a position he still holds.

In addition to his experience in high school, he has also coached boys middle school soccer for 10 years in Montgomery County. At the club level, he was the U19 Girls Head Coach for OBGC Soccer Club from 2007-2008.

Josh currently holds a USSF National ‘C’ Coaches License, USC National Diploma, & USC Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma. He played his college soccer at Maryville College in Tennessee where he also earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and History with a Secondary Teacher Licensure. He has a Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Literacy and Learning in the Content Area. He currently teaches Social Studies at Sherwood High School.

Michael Edwards

Bethesda SC Summer Camp Director

About Michael: Coach Edwards has been with the BSC program since 2016 and currently holds a USSF National ‘F’ Coaches License. In addition to his experience with BSC, Michael has served as a coach for the Clarksburg High School Varsity program and with Walt Whitman’s Junior Varsity team. He played three years of varsity for Paint Branch High School where he was captain for two years and helped the side reach the 4A State Championship title in 2005. In addition, he played three years of college soccer at Hood College. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Shippensburg College and is currently a sixth-grade teacher, and Head Coach at Julius West Middle School, as well as a Boys Varsity Soccer Assistant Coach at Good Counsel High School.

Jerry McNeal

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Jerry: For over 15 years Coach McNeal has provided expert guidance and leadership to the BSC program. He has also previously served as an Assistant Coach for Colorado College and George Washington University.

In college, Jerry played all four years at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in Division II. At the professional level, Jerry featured for the Northern Virginia Royals (USL D3 Pro League), the Colorado Springs Ascent, and the Pikes Peak Stampede (both of the USL PDL), and German Ruckingen and 1893 Hanau in the German amateur league. He also featured for the U.S. Military National Team from 1991-1993 and played at the 1993 Military World Cup in Morocco.

He currently holds a USSF National ‘A’ Coaches License and an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Bill Moravek

Technical Director

About Bill: Coach Moravek currently serves as an official US Academy Scout for Fulham FC, in England’s Championship and has been with the club since 2011. He lived in London for nearly five years as well, where both his sons played in Fulham’s academy program, during that time frame. His oldest son currently plays soccer at The United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Before his work with Fulham, Moravek lived in Fareham, England where he was an official scout for the English Premiership side, Southampton FC from 2003-2005, and was an academy coach for them from 2001-2003. In his time as an academy coach with Southampton, he was fortunate to coach the likes of Gareth Bale of Real Madrid and Nathan Dyer among others. In addition, he worked as an apprentice with the first team under Gordon Strachan who is the former manager of Scotland’s National Team as well as reserve team manager and former England U21 National Team Coach Steve Wigley. He has also worked with Huw Jennings who was the Academy Director at Southampton FC and is currently the Academy Director at Fulham FC and Malcolm Elias, who is the current head of Talent ID at Fulham FC and prior, was the head of Talent ID at Liverpool FC and Southampton FC.

In 2003, Moravek served as the assistant coach for the Jamaican Men’s National Team under Technical Director Carl Brown and Assistant Technical Director Peter Cargill (also Jamaica’s Captain in the 1998 Word Cup), living in Constant Spring, Kingston, which saw him in action against the USA, Nigeria, Paraguay, Cuba, and Brazil Select. He was also an assistant for their Olympic U23s, U20s, and U17s sides. In 2000-2001, Moravek was the head national team coach for the British Virgin Islands and Seba United FC(Currently Montego Bay United)in Jamaica’s Premier Division. His British Virgin Island squad won the Western Union Cup, beating Antigua in the final, in 2000.

He has also coached with the professional side of Maryland Mania of the USL and was an assistant coach at college sides, NCAA Division 1, Longwood University, NCAA Division 2 Shepherd University, and was a Volunteer Assistant at NCAA Division 1, Howard University. In addition, Moravek has also coached with both Virginia and Maryland ODP programs. He has also coached high school in the US, serving as Varsity Head Coach for Notre Dame Academy’s Boys and Girls Teams in Virginia, where his teams won the conference title both years and he was named conference coach each year. He was also the founder and Technical Director of Moravek Soccer School which, for over 20 years, conducted a variety of very successful summer day/residential camps for both boys and girls as well as tots programs and numerous other programs thru out the year. The programs, which were conducted thru Loudoun County Park and Recreation as well as Frostburg State University, had over 1000 participants in attendance, annually.

Moravek has been with Bethesda in a variety of roles since 2008, having served as a coach with all levels and ages of teams. His teams have won numerous tournaments and league titles, including NCSL, Pre-Academy as well as finishing high up in the Academy/MLS Next Leagues, among others. His Academy Teams have consistently ranked near the top statistically with the fewest goals allowed and most goals scored and qualified for playoffs each year, narrowly missing the National Quarterfinals in each of those years. In 2019, his U14 Boys Super Y League team won the National Championship going undefeated throughout the entire season.

Bill was a scholarship athlete for Clemson University’s 1987 National Championship and 1988 World Collegiate winning teams. In addition, he was a member of Clemson’s Gator Bowl-winning football team from 1989-1990. He currently holds a USSF “A” coaches license, which he has held since 1999.

Edgar Zuniga

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Edgar: Coach Zuniga holds a USSF National ‘E’ Coaches license.  In addition to his experience with Bethesda, Edgar has served as the varsity head coach for Richard Montgomery High School and as a head coach with Pachuca Football Club and Rockville Knights Football Club.

During his playing career, Edgar was an All-American at Richard Montgomery and would go on to play collegiate soccer at Radford University and Shepherd University. He would also play professionally in the Bolivian First Division and with Real Maryland FC.

Kert Mease

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Kert: Coach Mease holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Coaching ‘A’ License. He played professionally with the CISL and the Washington Warthogs after a collegiate career at the NCAA Division I Robert Morris University.

Mease’s extensive coaching experience includes College, High School, Club, DDP and ODP. He also led the Bethesda Freedom to the 2005 Girl’s U-13 Maryland State Cup Championship.

As head coach of the Northwest Varsity Boy’s program for the past 21 years, Mease earned three 4A West Division Titles in 2009, 2011, and 2012, He is a Physical Education teacher at Concord Hill School, Chevy Chase, Maryland.
