Chris Johnson

Coach Johnson brings over 30+ years of coaching experience at all levels, including clubs, ODP, and colleges.  He was the former Club coach of Maryland United FC from 2013 to 2023 and the former RL-Zone Coordinator for the Elite Clubs National League’s U12-U14 teams. Before coaching with the ECNL club, Johnson served as a coach for the Freestate Soccer Alliance Youth Club from 1994 to 2013. During his time with Freestate, Johnson won the 2010 MD State Cup Championship and coached multiple players who went on to play for Division 1 college and National teams. During a stint with his youth girls ‘ teams, he had 5 US Youth Nationals from the same team.
He has served as the youth coach for past and present MLS and NWSL players, Division I college players, and US National team players. He is currently the head coach for the USL-W Pre-Professional  Women’s team for the Patuxent FC program.
Johnson attended Bowie High School, winning a state championship in 1987. As a youth player, his Club team earned a final appearance in the National Youth Club Championship Series in 1990.
Johnson attended and lettered at the University of Maryland, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences. He played professionally for the Baltimore Bays before turning to coaching.
