Matt Lee

Matt brings a wealth of experience to Bethesda, having coached in the DC, MD, and VA region since 2011. Originally from England, he moved to the U.S. after playing with Swindon Town Football Club and graduating from Hartpury College in England.

In his role as an ECNL coach, Matt served as the head coach for the Fairfax VA Union 2010 Girls (formerly McLean/Union ECNL) for three years, leading them to two runner-up finishes and a Mid-Atlantic conference championship in 2024/25. He has also contributed as an assistant coach for various age groups, including the 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 girls teams.

Before his ECNL tenure, Matt enjoyed significant success in youth soccer, reaching the VA State Cup Finals 11 times and winning 6 State Cup Championships. His dedication to developing players has helped numerous boys and girls advance to collegiate programs, with four girls and five boys from his teams joining college teams in the Class of 2021 alone.

Matt holds a USSF “B” and FA Level 1 coaching licenses.
