2021 BSC Summer Camp Guide
Thank you for your interest in our 2021 Bethesda SC Summer Camp Program! We are super excited to be putting on another year of great summer camp programs for players across the DMV! Throughout the years parents have contacted us with general questions in the lead-up to camp so we decided this year to create an FAQ page with the hopes of addressing as many questions as possible prior to camp kick-off!
What is the general weekly schedule like for camp?
Bethesda SC runs two camps: our Elite Day Camp and our Evening Camp.
Our Elite Camp will run from 8:30am-Noon with each devoted to a specific skill or training situation followed by short-sided games and technical work. In the second half of camp, players will work on some tactical training and will participate in scrimmages based off of skill level.
For our evening camp (5-8pm), the high-school aged players (14 and above) will work on tactical and technical training designed to sharpen players skills ahead of the fall season. Our older players will work with our MLS Next and ECNL staff on fitness, strength, and conditioning as well as small-sided activities. The younger campers (13 and younger) will work on their technical training with syllabus similar to that of the morning Elite Camp.
When will the schedule for each camp be released?
Camp schedules will go out weekly the Friday before camp (around noon-1pm) and Sunday evening (around 7pm). Please make sure that your LeagueApps account is set up to receive messages.
What are the club's COVID-19 Safety Guidelines?
Bethesda SC has a comprehensive COVID-19 Safety Guideline that are updated daily with guidance from state and local authorities as well as the Center for Disease Control.
In the weekly schedule our Camp Directors will outline the basics of the COVID-19 Guidelines. This will include
- Temperature check at the start of each day
- Spectator and mask policies
- COVID-19 Questionnaire to be filled out prior to each camp day
As you can imagine, our COVID-19 Guidelines may change throughout the summer and within each week of camp. Our club will provide you with updated information as soon as it becomes available.
What should my camper bring to camp?
Campers should bring a mask, sunscreen, water, snack (optional), hand sanitizer, sneakers and cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball (labeled with your camper's name) and comfortable clothes.
In terms of sunscreen please make sure that your kids apply it before each camp session.
Where can I pick-up my player at the end of the day?
Players can be picked up at the Richard Montgomery HS parking lot near the main stadium field (There will be Bethesda SC signage near the main gate to help parents). Our coaches are instructed to stay at the location until all players are picked up. For Tilden Middle School additional pick-up information will be provided closer to the camp date.
We will of course notify of any changes to the schedule as early as possible. All camp weather information will be provided via email.
My child played for a BSC U8-U12 team last year. How do I apply the free week of camp to my registration?
Please contact our Summer Camp Directors Mike Edwards and Tyler Martin at email@example.com to receive your Summer Camp Discount Guide.
Is there an After Care Program?
There will be not be an after care program this year. Please pick your son/daughter up on time.
