General Bethesda SC Summer Camp Information
Thank you for your interest in our 2020 Bethesda SC Summer Camp Program! We are super excited to be putting on another year of great summer camp programs for players across the DMV! Throughout the years parents have contacted us with general questions in the lead-up to camp so we decided this year to create an FAQ page with the hopes of addressing as many questions as possible prior to camp kick-off!
Boys and Girls Elite and High School SSL Camps
What is the general weekly schedule like for the Elite and High School SSL Camps?
Both our Elite and High School SSL Camps run from 9am-3pm with lunch around noon. For our Elite Camp there will be a morning session each devoted to a specific skill or training situation followed by short-sided games and technical work. In the afternoon players will work on some tactical training and will participate in scrimmages based off of skill level.
For our High School Campers players will work on tactical and technical training designed to sharpen players skills ahead of the fall season. Players will work with our Development Academy and ECNL staff on fitness, strength, and conditioning as well as small-sided activities. In the afternoon players will serve as assistant coaches to our head coaching staff for the Elite Camp and responsibilities will range from running small-sided drills to refilling water coolers to general field maintenance.
When will the schedule for each camp be released?
Camp schedules will go out weekly the Friday before camp (around noon-1pm) and Sunday evening (around 7pm). Please make sure that your LeagueApps account is set up to receive messages.
What should my camper bring to camp?
Campers should bring sunscreen, water, snack (optional), lunch (we would encourage you to have this labeled) , sneakers and cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball (labeled with your camper's name) and comfortable clothes. We do not have a refridgerator or a microwave so please plan accordingly.
In terms of sunscreen although our coaches will make sure players apply sunscreen during the afternoon we strongly encourage parents to make sure their players have it on prior camp starting each day.
Can you give a little more information about half-day camp (Pick-up times and location)?
Absolutely! So players who are participating in the half-day camp will participate with the rest of our campers during their morning session. When camp breaks at noon parents can pick up their players on the field next to the Bethesda SC tent. There will be a sign in and sign out sheet so make sure you sign out before you leave. If your player wants to have lunch with us with their fellow campers that is fine but you must contact the coach prior to camp and indicate what time you will be picking up your child. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria.
If your family decides that you want to move to a full day of camp that is perfectly fine but you will need to contact our Office Administrator Zane Campbell at firstname.lastname@example.org and switch your registration from a half-day camp to a full-day camp.
Where can I pick-up my player at the end of the day?
Players can be picked up at the Richard Montgomery HS parking lot near the main stadium field (There will be Bethesda SC signage near the main gate to help parents). Our coaches are instructed to stay at the location until all players are picked up. For Tilden Middle School additional pick-up information will be provided closer to the camp date.
If for some reason an alternate pick-up site is needed parents will be provided that information as soon as possible. The club will have access to the gym facilities at both RM and Tilden so in the event of thunder, lightning, or extreme heat play may move indoors. We will of course notify of any changes to the schedule as early as possible. All camp weather information will be provided via email.
My child played for a BSC U8-U12 team last year. How do I apply the free week of camp to my registration?
If you need assistance on applying a Discount Code please check out our Discount Code tutorial! This also works for the BSC player discount.
Is there an After Care Program?
Yes! We do have an After Care program for our Elite Campers. It will run from 3-5pm and will be either indoors in the gym or on the field (exact information will be given at a later time). There is an additional fee for After Care that you will need to pay for through LeagueApps.

Players will be have three sessions each day with the more and afternoon sessions focused on individual and small-sided training and the evening sessions focused on scrimmages where players will play in World Cup-style tournaments. Individual training will also be provided throughout the week for goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and strikers.
I am planning on having my player take the bus. When should I drop my player and when will I need to pick them up?
Drop-off will be Sunday afternoon at a time and location to be determined and pick-up will be Friday afternoon at the same location. In the past we have used Walter Johnson High School near the main stadium as the main meetup point.
Can I pick my player up at Frostburg?
Yes. If you are planning on picking your player up at the school please contact our Technical Director Jonathon Colton at email@example.com
If you have already paid for the bus and need to be refunded please email our Office Administrator Zane Campbell at firstname.lastname@example.org

We will have an updated camp packing list for both Boys and Girls Camps no later than February 1st.
Where will our players be staying?
Players will be staying in the Residence Halls on campus that are located close to both the stadium field and the cafeteria.
I would like for my player to room with another player who is going to camp. How do I make that request?
When you are filling out the registration for camp there will be a space for roommate requests. Please enter the name of the player there.
My child has a specific medical condition. Will there be an athletic trainer at the camp?
Yes we will have athletic trainers at both the boys and girls camps. Prior to camp starting parents will be asked to fill out a medical form where they need to disclose any conditions that our staff should be aware of.
If your child has specific food allergies you will need to write those down on the form as well so that our coaching staff and trainers can monitor the situation closely. Frostburg does have their cafeteria menu available online as well.
If I have additional questions who can I contact?
If you have additional questions about the Girls Residential Camp please contact Kevin Layton at email@example.com
