About Chelsea

Chelsea joins the BSC program after an extensive playing and coaching career. Before joining Bethesda, Chelsea was a head coach at PSA SDFC, NJ Stallions, Maroon Soccer Club, and Match Fit Academy. She was also the Junior Varsity Head Coach at Immaculate Heart Academy. She also played Division 1 soccer at the University of Southern California, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.

Shaun Cryer

About Shaun

Shaun joins Bethesda after an exceptional youth soccer coaching career both nationally in the state of New Jersey. As the Girls Academy Director Shaun oversaw a program that won multiple prestigious tournaments including the Jefferson Cup, the Bethesda Premier Cup, and the Disney Showcase. In addition, his teams won multiple Region I Championship as well as a US Club Championship. In terms of recruiting, his sides saw 66 players go on to play college soccer at Division 1 and Division 3 levels.

Jason Travis

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Jason

Jason has been coaching soccer for over 35 years. He currently coaches the 2007 U14 Girls Olympic Developmental Program (ODP) team. He has served as the Head Coach at Potomac Soccer for 1999, 2002, 2003, and 2008 Girls teams over the past 8 years, resulting in 15 Tournament Championships including the 2019 MSYSA Presidents Cup State Championship. Jason also served as Head Coach with both Rockville and Gaithersburg High School Varsity Girls Soccer teams.

Before and during coaching, he played travel soccer in Florida for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Beaches Soccer Kyx as well as 1 year of college at Florida State College at Jacksonville. While in Europe for 17 years, he played for several teams (SV Ramsthal, TV Jahn 1895, 1FC Schweinfurt 05, and DJK Seugast) in Germany making it to the Regionalliga.

He currently holds a USSF ‘C’ License and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College.

Catherine Madden

About Catherine

As a player, Catherine played all four years at Stevenson University where she was a Spring 2014 Women’s ‘Gold’ Varsity Soccer Team Member-4 years Runner selection, an NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Selection, and a member of the Mid-Atlantic Conference Soccer Fall All-Academic Team in the Fall of 2013.

Catherine graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Stevenson University in 2014. She then went on to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where she graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2019.

Erica Klein

About Erica

Erica is a Bethesda Soccer Club alum and was a four-year starter for the varsity soccer team at The Bullis School, earning all-league honors her senior year. After Bullis, she spent time playing for Trinity College in Hartford, CT at the Division III level before deciding to focus on my studies. Erica is currently the head coach for the JV team at Walt Whitman High School for the past 4 seasons. Before Whitman, she was the assistant JV coach at Bullis for 2 seasons. In addition to coaching high school soccer, she has coached with Arrington Training and Development (ATD) since 2015, where she has worked with teams of all ages and skill levels. While working with ATD she was the head coach for two MSI teams and the assistant coach for two Maryland Rush teams. She currently holds her F, E, and D licenses through US Soccer and is an accredited interscholastic coach through NFHS.

Jason Harris

Director of Scouting

Jason has spent the past two years coaching for the Largo High School Boys Varsity team. In his first season as Assistant Coach, his team made it to the 1A Regional Championship, and in his second season, as Head Coach, they advanced to the regional semifinals. Jason played his club soccer at numerous academies across Maryland but is proud to be Bethesda alumni as a member of the Bethesda Mavericks. In addition, he was a four-year varsity high school player at both St. Johns College High and Bowie High School.

Jason has primarily worked within the Youth Development Program and with our Soccer Juniors Clinic but will be coaching our U17 White team in 2020-2021. He currently holds a USSF National ‘D’ Coaches License and is currently working on his ‘C’ License for USSF and UEFA. He aims to continue his soccer education with the hope of coaching at the highest level or becoming a scout.

Daniel Akinkoye

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Daniel: Daniel Akinkoye is entering his third season as a head coach at BSC.  A player Daniel played with the #1 nationally ranked Olney Rangers, Potomac U-16, and DC United’s U-18 academy. These club experiences allowed him to play with and against current professional players and exposed him to top NCAA D1 programs before landing home at American University. Daniel spent the past spring season training in Germany with professional club SC Paderborn and other German clubs. In addition to working at BSC, he also serves as a coach at Forza Soccer School. He has enjoyed coaching players from ages 5-14 at the Bullis Soccer Academy for the last 9 years and currently holds a USSF National ‘D’ Coaches License.

Mikayla Krinetz

Bethesda SC Head Coach

About Mikayla: Coach Krinetz joins the BSC coaching staff after an extensive playing career in the Maryland area. Before graduating from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County with a degree in both psychology and photography, she played goalkeeper. At UMBC she also served as the Vice President of the UMBC Student Advisory Committee and is a representative of the America East Student Advisory Committee. She is also a founding member of the Retriever Project, a student-athlete mental health initiative. She has previously coached at soccer camps at both UMBC and the United States Naval Academy. Mikayla played high school soccer at Broadneck High School and is an alumnus of the BSC program.

In addition to her work on the pitch, she volunteers at her local SPCA.

Kevin Layton

ECNL Girls Director U15-U19

About Kevin: Coach Layton joined the BSC program for 2019-2020 after over a decade of coaching youth and collegiate soccer in the region. He will be coaching Bethesda’s U12 and U15 ECNL sides during the fall.

Prior to joining Bethesda, Kevin served as the Head Coach of the MRM Coyotes, which won over 20 top-flight championships including the Bethesda Premier Cup and had 19 players go on to play NCAA Division I soccer. He would later go on to serve as the Director of the Girls Youth Academy at MRM, working with players ages 8-13. He has also served as the Girls Varsity Assistant Coach at Good Counsel High School where his side won six Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) championships. At the collegiate level, Kevin has previously worked as a Volunteer Assistant Head Coach and Interim Head Coach at George Washington University.

In addition to his work as a coach he is also the owner of MEGA Soccer, a soccer training company based out of the Montgomery County area. Before starting his coaching career Kevin played college soccer at Towson University and was a member of the Northern Virginia Royals PDL team in 2003 and 2004.

He currently holds  UEFA B License, USSF B License, NSCAA Premier Diploma, USSF Youth license, WFA Periodization Diploma, La Liga level 1 and level 2 Formation Methodology Courses, KNVB International Course. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.

Jeff Rohrman

About Jeff: Coach Rohrman has been with the BSC program since 2015 and has extensive experience as a club, ODP, and college coach.

As the Head Coach at the University of Wisconsin and assistant coach at the University of Maryland, Coach Rohrman has had a long and successful journey at two of soccer’s most prestigious and respected programs. Over his time in the collegiate game, Rohrman has worked with and helped develop several US National Team and professional players. Rohrman has developed and produced numerous All-Conference, All-Region, All-Tournament, and All-American selections.  He was a part of an ACC Regular Season Championship, ACC Tournament Championship, and a Final Four appearance during his coaching tenure at the University of Maryland.

In addition to his college coaching experience, Jeff has coached at the youth levels in Maryland and Wisconsin for over 30 years. He has previously served as the Director of Coaching at Potomac Soccer Club and State Cup Teams Director at Bethesda.  Rohrman has been on the State and Regional ODP coaching staff for years.

Rohrman also worked with the United States Soccer Federation as a National Teams Administrator, overseeing the US Olympic Festival Soccer Competitions and National Team domestic and international training camps and competitions.  He traveled with the US Under-20 National Team to Australia for the 1993 Youth World Cup and also attended the FIFA World Futsal Championships in Hong Kong.   During his time with US Soccer, Rohrman worked alongside some of the country’s best National Team coaches.  

As a player, Rohrman was a two-time high school all-American and a two-time NJCAA all-American at Bethany Lutheran College.  He would play at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he would earn MVP and All-Region honors his senior year, in addition to serving as captain.  While playing at UW-Milwaukee, Rohrman played under legendary US National Team coach Bob Gansler, who guided the US in the 1990 World Cup.  Upon graduation, Rohrman participated in the  US Olympic Festival and played professional soccer for the Milwaukee Wave (AISA) and Real Santa Barbara (WSL).

Jeff currently holds a USSF National ‘A’ Coaches License. He has his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master’s Degree in Physical Education and Sports Administration from the University of Minnesota-Mankato.
