Bethesda Soccer Club and TPH Partner to Launch Elite Performance Academy in Maryland

TPH Academy and Bethesda Soccer Club are proud to announce the launch of the Bethesda Performance Academy, Powered by TPH. This innovative partnership aims to provide a holistic development program that integrates elite soccer training with comprehensive academic programs, mentorship, and community engagement opportunities– creating the ultimate environment for student-athletes to thrive.

Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming academic year. TPH Academy and Bethesda Soccer Club invite you to a virtual info session on Thursday, January 30th, at 8:00 PM EST to learn more about Bethesda Performance Academy, Powered by TPH. This event is free and open to the public; you must register here.

The Bethesda Performance Academy, Powered by TPH, is built to support aspiring elite student-athletes by providing personalized and flexible academic and training schedules tailored to the demands of rigorous travel and sports commitments. Through this partnership, student-athletes will benefit from TPH Academy’s blended learning model, which combines a virtual curriculum with dedicated on-site academic support. This innovative structure allows flexibility and customization, ensuring each athlete can achieve their unique educational and athletic goals without compromise.

Student-athletes will utilize a 24/7 accessible academic platform, enabling them to study anytime, anywhere in the world. While on-site, they receive guidance from an educational leadership team dedicated to keeping them on track or ahead in their coursework. They engage virtually with course instructors, are assigned tailored core courses, and can choose from various electives, including AP, Honors, and foreign language options, to suit their academic interests and goals.

Since its establishment in 1979, Bethesda Soccer Club has been dedicated to fostering talent and promoting excellence in youth soccer. The club has a remarkable track record, having developed 72 professional players since 2000. An average of three players per graduating class turns professional. Notable alumni include Joe Gyau (Borussia Dortmund), Gedion Zelalem (Arsenal), Andi Sullivan (Washington Spirit), and Jeremy Ebobisse (San Jose Earthquakes).

Positive Coaching Alliance Partnership

Bethesda Soccer Club has established a two-year partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). This national non-profit develops “Better Athletes, Better People” by working to provide all youth and high school athletes with a positive, character-building sports experience.

 

The partnership provides Bethesda Soccer Club access to PCA’s training for coaches, sports parents, student-athletes, and administrators. The training comprises live group workshops, online courses, books by PCA Founder Jim Thompson, and additional online resources, such as e-mailed follow-up tips and reminders.

PCA has partnered with roughly 3,500 youth sports organizations, schools, districts, conferences, and parks-and-rec departments to create a Development Zone™ culture. The goal is to use youth and high school sports to develop Better Athletes and Better People.

Our research-based materials combine the latest in sports psychology, education, and practical advice from top pro and college coaches and athletes that help improve athletic performance. Elite Striker Program

Program Description:

This program will offer players the unique opportunity to develop their ability to properly strike the soccer ball to generate power and accuracy, initially moving on to finishing technique (1v1 with a GK) and types of finishes and attacking movement in and around the 18-yard area. This progressive program develops from sessions 1 to 5, and each returning player from clinic 1 onwards will progress into the next phase of Striker development. This is a highly technical program where techniques are specifically broken down in great detail to provide individuals with crucial feedback to generate maximum effectiveness and confidence to use in the game.

Open to boys and girls. You MUST register in blocks. You may not register for individual sessions.

Ages: U9 (2016) – U19 (2006)

Ekkono Clinic

WHAT IS EKKONO?

The Ekkono Method, a well-regarded soccer training methodology, emphasizes fostering players who excel in game interpretation and decision-making. Conceived over 20 years ago by David Hernández and Carles Romagosa, it’s a cognitive soccer training approach aiming to create “smart players” capable of finding intelligent solutions during play. The core objective is to ensure players can accurately interpret the game dynamics and respond effectively, enhancing their overall on-pitch performance.

EKKONO IS A FOOTBALL TRAINING METHOD USED FOR MORE THAN 40 PROFESSIONAL CLUBS, FOOTBALL FEDERATIONS AND UNIVERSITIES ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Clubs/Federations that have used their methodology: PSG, Pachuca, and the Japanese Federation.

Registration is limited to 24 field players per session. Our clinic sessions are open to both boys and girls players.

    • If a player misses a training session, there will be no make-up session.

    • In this activity, players can prove their knowledge about the concept we’ve been working on that month.

Juniors Program

WHAT IS SOCCER JUNIORS?

Soccer Juniors is Bethesda Soccer’s early childhood program. It aims to instill a love for soccer and some basic comfort with the ball. The program focuses on giving players the foundations of the game so they can apply them later in their soccer careers.
 
While technical sessions are essential, so is fun. Players learn to enjoy the game in an environment that encourages learning and play.
 
Campers are divided into age groups, and each session will include technical-based games and fun games. Players will also have the opportunity to play in small-sided games.

Martin Winter Clinic

TAKE THE CHANCE TO FOCUS ON YOUR TECHNIQUE THIS WINTER WITH THIS GREAT SIX-SESSION CLINIC.

Spend the winter improving and refining your soccer technique with YDP Director Trevor Martin and Academy 1 coach Tyler Martin. This program is ideal for boys and girls ages 7 to 12. It’s designed to supplement your individual and team training this winter and presents an excellent opportunity to take your game to the next level. Join other BSC players in this fun, challenging environment.

Technique Masterclass

Join our world-class staff for a unique experience in technical/functional skills refinement. Each week will focus on a different aspect of technical development and how each is applied effectively in match situations.

This program is necessary for field players to improve their technique and position-specific tactical knowledge. Goalkeepers are encouraged to sign up as functional attacking and defending are all to goal.
Registration is limited to 40 field players per session. Our clinic sessions are open to both boys and girls players.
