Thanksgiving

Tournament

2009

Bethesda Soccer Club has selected Soccer Without Borders’ T.E.A.M. Girls Program in Granada, Nicaragua, as its charitable partner for the 2009 Thanksgiving Tournament.  This program seeks to bring soccer and life skills to girls in Granada.  Click here for more information about this inspiring effort.

Equipment Drive

· We will be conducting a gear drive over the girls’ tournament weekend. Please check around the house for outgrown cleats and indoor shoes and bring them along!  We are also collecting soccer balls (deflated please), as well as coaching gear, including pinnies and cones.

· Collection boxes will be available at registration on Friday evening, as well as at all three game sites on Saturday and Sunday.

“High Five” Campaign

· It costs approximately $5 to underwrite the  cost of a girl’s participation in the Granada program for a week. The program is seeking to expand its efforts off the soccer field to help teach life skills, and to provide much-needed support through meals, homework clubs, and social activities.

· The “High Five” campaign is an effort to fund these activities. Soccer players in the US can give a symbolic high five to their counterparts in Nicaragua through a donation of $5.  Please consider including a $5 check or cash with your equipment donation (tucked inside a pair of cleats is fine!)

Our girls enjoy soccer opportunities unimaginable to many girls in Nicaragua; this partnership is an effort to “even the playing field” just a bit.

Many thanks for your support!
