Bethesda Soccer Club Selects Youth Development Coordinator for Boys
The Board of Directors of Bethesda Soccer Club is proud to announce the hiring of Jonathon Colton, Head Coach of the U12 Boys Bethesda Real, as the new Youth Development Coordinator for our boys teams in the U8 to U11 age groups.

Jonathon has been a Bethesda Soccer Club coach for 5 years, beginning in 2002 with the U8 Real and United teams.  Jonathon was selected at the end of a 90 day process whereby a four-member Evaluation Committee reviewed the resumes of more than 40 applicants, conducted interviews and evaluated training sessions of the final candidates.

Prior to joining Bethesda Soccer Club, Jonathon worked as a soccer camp trainer for the American Soccer Academy, worked with DC Stoddert, trained for one summer with DC United and was a four year starter at the collegiate level, one year at Virginia Tech and three years at American University.  As a senior at American University he led the team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA soccer championship.

Outside of soccer, Jonathon works as a Health and Physical Education teacher for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students at Key Elementary School in Washington, DC.

Jonathon Colton joins the Bethesda Soccer Club Youth Development staff and will share the responsibility of operating the program with Ellis Pierre, Youth Development Coordinator for Girls, and Bob Dengler, the Youth Development Program Administrator.

The Bethesda Soccer Club Youth Development Program is a development academy where players will receive age-appropriate training and playing opportunities under the direction of dedicated and licensed coaches.  The focus is on the joy of play and the development of technical skills. Players will build on the success of current and former players in WAGS, ODP, US National Teams and colleges across the country. Older club players participate regularly in training and offer insight, friendship, and positive role models for our younger players.
