The U-13 boys Bethesda Fire and girls Bethesda Freedom were crowned Maryland State Cup Champions on Sunday, November 2nd 2008 at the Maryland Soccerplex.   Both U-13 Bethesda teams earned a spot in the 2009 Region 1 Championships in Huntington, West Virginia in July.  The teams faced fierce competition.  The Fire won their final State cup match with a score of 2 to 1 against the Olney Rangers while the Freedom battled against the Greater Severna Park Kickers and ended their final State cup match with a 2-1 victory.  These two teams are the first "graduates" of Bethesda's Elite Youth Development Program and Bethesda congratulates the players and coaches that have dedicated their time and talent to the game.

The Bethesda Soccer Club also wants to congratulate the finalists and semi-finalists, including the Olney Rangers, Westminster Wolves Wolfpack, and Baltimore Bays Casa Mia for the Boys and SAC United Premier, Baltimore Bays, and Olney Cyclones White for the Girls.
